The Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHub) will debut a new access point from the Glòries L1 metro station this autumn, creating a direct connection between public transport and the city’s leading design and creativity centre. The new lobby will function as a "transition space between public transport and cultural activity", according to DHub officials. One of the first features visitors will encounter is a textile artwork by Catalan artist Aurèlia Muñoz, installed at the museum's metro entrance.

We will turn one of the walls into a large showcase for the museum,

said Lluís Nacenta, director of DHub and head of programmes, underscoring efforts to reach broader audiences.

Seasonal Exhibitions Unveiled

Coinciding with the opening, DHub has launched its 2026/2027 season programme, featuring over 100 exhibitions, workshops, talks, and festivals. The autumn schedule includes three major retrospectives: 'André Ricard. Disseny en ús' from 29 October, celebrating the industrial designer’s legacy; 'Asunción Bastida. Barcelona y la alta costura' from 4 November, spotlighting a pioneering but under-recognised figure in post-war Spanish fashion; and 'Aurèlia Muñoz. El tèxtil com a pretexte', opening 10 November, focusing on early textile works. From November 2026 to March 2027, digital art will take centre stage with 'Vectors. Art digital per pensar en el futur', part of the Biennal de Arts Digitals, alongside 'Ressonàncies. La ciutat que ressona', curated by Irem Erkin and projected on a 15-metre screen.

Gender, Design and Legacy

Gender perspectives will be explored in several exhibitions. 'La cuina de Frankfurt. Diseño y género en el espacio doméstico', starting 11 November, examines Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky’s first industrial kitchen and reflects on how domestic design shaped women’s roles. Later in 2027, 'Els llibres a Barcelona' will highlight the Catalan capital’s role in editorial production, while 'Maria Bofill. Fòrmules vives' will present enamel formulas from the artist’s free works held in DHub’s collection.

School and Public Programmes

DHub will continue hosting educational activities for secondary and vocational students through its school programme, including guided tours and hands-on workshops focused on critical thinking, gender relations, inclusion, and responsible consumption. Reservations for these activities can be made via email at [email protected] or by phone at 932 566 801, with bookings required at least 15 days in advance. Barcelona Design Week will run from 14 to 25 October 2026, followed by the Llum BCN festival in February 2027.
