The Saló de l’Ocupació (Employment Fair) is taking place at Fira de Barcelona today, Thursday 22nd October 2026, offering jobseekers direct access to employers, career guidance, and skills development. Organised by Barcelona City Council through Barcelona Activa, the event runs from 21st to 22nd October and aims to strengthen connections between jobseekers and companies while promoting training and professional requalification.

Over 19,000 people have registered for the fair, according to Carol Lorenzo, Director of Professional Guidance at Barcelona Activa. The event features more than 40 speakers and over 100 participating organisations, including companies, training providers, and public employment services. Attendees can receive personalised advice on CV writing, interview techniques, and job market trends, with a particular focus on digital skills and artificial intelligence in recruitment.

Live Interviews and AI Recruitment

A new feature this year is Talento en directo (Live Talent), which facilitates rapid-fire interviews between jobseekers and company representatives. One of the most anticipated stands is Factorial’s AI interview booth, where visitors can simulate job interviews using artificial intelligence. The technology is designed to help candidates highlight their skills and improve their competitiveness in automated selection processes.

The offers available are a good representation of what the job market is demanding today.

Trades Workshops for Young People

The fair also highlights vocational training through the Taller de Oficios (Trades Workshop), a Barcelona Activa programme for young people under 30. The initiative includes six months of training followed by a paid internship and work contract. Specialisations include technical roles in creative industries, such as stage management, audiovisuals, and sound, as well as environmental roles like forestry work, floral design, and Mediterranean gardening. Each training group is limited to eight participants to ensure intensive, hands-on instruction.

Know Your Labour Rights

Attendees can also visit a dedicated labour rights stand, run in collaboration with Barcelona’s Youth Employment Office and youth information services. The stand provides advice on employment rights, including issues such as unpaid wages, working hours, and contract disputes. In 2024, Barcelona’s Labour Rights Defence Points assisted 3,783 people citywide, according to the Barcelona City Council.

For further assistance, jobseekers can call the helpline at 900 533 175 or book an appointment via the Know Your Rights portal.
