David Madí, businessman and former president of Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya (CDC), has stated he is not in favour of 'sanitary cordons' blocking cooperation between Junts and Aliança Catalana (AC).
Speaking in an interview published on 10 August 2026, Madí endorsed the possibility of political agreements between the two parties, though he limited such arrangements for now to the municipal sphere.
Madí, a prominent figure in Catalan politics and former communications director of CDC, stressed the need to 'advance' in the political landscape and rejected exclusionary tactics.
Call for reflection on national politics
On the relationship between Junts and the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), Madí predicted a 'convulsive' end to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's legislative term.

He urged both parties to reflect on the causes behind the deterioration of their alliance and to assess whether a genuine opportunity for consensus was missed.
Focus on practical cooperation
While not advocating for immediate national-level coalitions, Madí suggested that functional cooperation at the local level could pave the way for broader political shifts.
