Officials to Inspect L8 Extension Site
On Monday, 28 September 2026, Barcelona’s First Deputy Mayor, Laia Bonet, will join regional officials for a visit to the construction site of the FGC L8 line extension at the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes access shaft. The inspection begins at 12:30 PM at the tunnel boring machine’s entry point, located at Gran Via 408. Also attending are Sílvia Paneque, Minister of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, and Carles Ruiz, President of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), the regional rail operator responsible for the project.
Site Visit and Safety Protocols
The delegation will first descend into the access shaft, followed by technical presentations and institutional remarks at ground level starting at 1:00 PM. The event offers a rare opportunity to observe one of the most complex underground infrastructure projects currently underway in central Barcelona. For safety reasons, long trousers and closed, comfortable footwear are required.
Only visual media representatives may descend into the shaft, and those intending to do so must include their shoe size during accreditation.
