Casa Asia plans to move from its current Raval base on Elisabets Street to Pavilions 3 and 4 in the Pedralbes Palace grounds in November 2026. For people attending its events and using its public facilities, the move will shift the organisation's auditorium, media library and activity spaces to Pedralbes, beside Avinguda Diagonal.
Building work on the two pavilions has finished, according to reporting published by La Vanguardia on 17 August. Furniture and audiovisual equipment are still to be installed before the relocation.
Casa Asia is a Barcelona-based institution whose headquarters were established in the city under a 2001 agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona City Council. The new site will be its fifth headquarters in Barcelona.
Public facilities on Diagonal, offices by Pere Duran Farell Street
The renovated buildings stand at opposite ends of the Pedralbes Palace gardens, next to Avinguda Diagonal. Cobrusi Arquitectes won the public tender to redesign the pavilions.
- Pavilion 4, at the junction of Avinguda Diagonal and Carrer de John Maynard Keynes, will contain the public areas: an auditorium, media library and multi-purpose room for activities.
- Pavilion 3, near Carrer de Pere Duran Farell, will hold offices and meeting rooms. Its internal courtyard is intended for outdoor events.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two-pavilion scheme includes office space in one building and public spaces, including an auditorium, media library and classrooms, in the other.
Move follows Casa Asia's 25th anniversary
The ministry said Casa Asia celebrated its 25th anniversary in November 2025. The planned November 2026 move therefore follows that anniversary, rather than taking place during it.
Casa Asia is currently based in the former chapel of the Infants Orfes on Carrer d'Elisabets in Raval. The organisation was previously housed at the Baró Quadras modernist building on Diagonal until 2013, then at the Sant Pau modernist complex and, from 2018, in 22@ before moving to Raval in 2023.
A specific opening date for the Pedralbes headquarters has not been announced.
