The Calonge i Sant Antoni City Council has approved two agreements with the Catalan Housing Agency (Agència de l’Habitatge de Catalunya) to advance the development of 66 affordable homes on municipal land. The decision, ratified at a plenary session on Thursday 25 September 2026, entrusts the agency with initiating a public tender to select a developer for the project.
The two plots, both located on Gavina Street, form part of the municipality’s public land reserve and will be made available under a 75-year surface right or administrative concession. This arrangement enables the Catalan Housing Agency to manage the construction contract and ensure compliance with affordability and social housing requirements.
The development is aligned with the Generalitat’s 'Plan 50,000', a public programme aiming to deliver 50,000 protected and affordable homes across Catalonia by 2030. Although the agency will oversee the tender process, the Calonge i Sant Antoni Council will retain responsibility for allocating the completed homes and drafting the regulatory framework for residency.
“We want to advance in the creation of new opportunities for social and affordable housing so that people living in Calonge i Sant Antoni can continue to develop their life projects and do not have to leave the municipality,” says Elena Montiel, the Councilor for Housing.
The transfer of land marks a key step in expanding access to protected housing in the coastal town, where demand for affordable options has grown. The Catalan Housing Agency is expected to launch the public tender in due course, with construction to follow upon selection of a developer.
