Grants Target Empowerment and Social Rights

Barcelona City Council has opened a public call for proposals to fund initiatives that improve the social and human rights of people in prostitution. The scheme prioritises projects that promote gender equality, empower cis and trans women, and support those currently or formerly involved in prostitution to gain autonomy and access essential services. The funding, managed under the city’s Feminisms and LGTBI Services Directorate, aims to strengthen the network of organisations working in this field and boost the employability and skill levels of participants.

Three Key Focus Areas

Projects must align with one of three thematic areas: improving access to training and employment, providing comprehensive support to individuals in closed environments such as healthcare or social facilities, and ensuring access to social and economic rights during emergencies. Special attention will be given to individuals facing extreme vulnerability, including those in institutional settings, who will receive targeted emergency resources. Organisations delivering projects under the employment and training category will integrate into the ABITS labour plan, coordinated by the city’s Feminisms and LGTBI Services and Barcelona Activa.

How to Apply and Key Dates

Applications must be submitted electronically via the Barcelona City Council’s administrative information portal. The submission window will open the day after the call is published in the Butlletí Oficial de la Província de Barcelona (BOPB) and remain open for 20 working days. The BOPB publication can be tracked through the official provincial bulletin’s online service. The call follows the framework of the 2026 resolution on grants for actions improving rights access for people in prostitution, published on 19 June 2026.
