Regular public transport users in Barcelona will continue to receive a 50% reduction on the T-Usual and T-Jove passes at least until 2028, according to an agreement between the Generalitat and the Comuns political group reached at the end of 2025.

For passengers making frequent journeys, the current one-zone prices are €22.80 for a monthly T-Usual and €45.50 for a three-month T-Jove, which is available to people under 30. The T-Usual allows unlimited travel for one month.

Passengers should check the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM) 2026 fare notice before buying or renewing a pass. The ATM is the regional body that sets integrated public transport fares in the Barcelona area.

Generalitat pledges to cover a potential funding gap

Sílvia Paneque, the Minister for Territory, said in statements reported by ACN that the Generalitat would retain its existing 30% contribution to the reductions and cover the 20% currently funded by Spain’s Ministry of Transport if that contribution is withdrawn.

“The Generalitat will retain its 30% contribution and would take on the central government’s 20% share if it is withdrawn,” Paneque said, according to ACN.

The additional 20% coverage is therefore conditional on the Ministry of Transport ending its contribution. Under the agreement, the stated aim is to prevent passengers paying more because of such a withdrawal.

Base fares rose by 3.5% in 2026

The ATM applied a general 3.5% fare increase in January 2026, citing rising operating costs and the need to maintain service continuity. Its board kept the 50% reduction for the T-Usual and T-Jove despite that wider increase.

  • T-Usual: €22.80 for unlimited travel over one month.
  • T-Jove: €45.50 for unlimited travel over three months for under-30s.
  • Other tickets: fares are subject to the ATM’s 2026 tariff revision, including a €2.90 single ticket and a €13 one-zone T-Casual.

The ATM’s published 2026 notice is the official channel for fare changes and conditions affecting integrated tickets across the Barcelona metropolitan network.
