Barcelona’s Parliament is heading towards this week’s vote on the Generalitat’s 2026 budget bill after the Partit Popular said on Tuesday 30 June that it will not ask the Consell de Garanties Estatutàries to review it.

The PP’s decision removes one possible procedural delay. The advisory body, known as the CGE, gives non-binding legal opinions on whether draft laws fit the Statute of Autonomy and the Constitution, according to the Generalitat’s description of the body.

The announcement was made by Lorena Roldán, the PP’s new parliamentary spokesperson, according to the Parliament’s record of the budget bill and the PP group’s official composition. The budget is now expected to go forward in this week’s plenary session with backing from PSC-Units, ERC and Comuns, although that support will only be confirmed when deputies vote.

If a parliamentary group asks for a CGE opinion during the process, the bill can be held up while the council studies it. By not making that request, the PP avoids opening that extra stage in the timetable.

The Parliament has published the 2026 budget bill in its official bulletin and on its current affairs pages as it moved through the chamber. Those notices show the bill has reached the stage for final debate and decision by the full chamber.

For readers following the process, the Parliament’s agenda and institutional notices are available on its website. You can also read BARNA’s Source Transparency and Editorial Policy pages for more on how we handle official material.
