One in Critical Condition, Another Hospitalised
One of the people injured in a fire at a care home in L'Ametlla del Vallès, Barcelona, is in intensive care, while another remains in hospital, according to the latest reports. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at a residential facility for older adults. The fire, which broke out in a room whose door was reportedly blocked, resulted in one fatality. The deceased has been identified as a 53-year-old man, Catalan News confirmed, citing official sources.
77 Treated for Smoke Inhalation
A total of 77 people were treated for smoke inhalation during the incident, according to La Vanguardia. Earlier reports from Agencia EFE via Infobae had cited 71 people attended to, highlighting the scale of the emergency response. Emergency services, including the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan regional police) and medical teams, responded rapidly to the scene. The Generalitat’s Department of Social Rights confirmed the activation of emergency protocols to support residents and staff.
Minister Visits Site
Raúl Moreno, Minister of Social Rights and Inclusion, visited the facility and spoke to the media. He expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and praised the response of emergency personnel.
