Nou Barris Hosts La Mercè with Music, Food and Puppetry

Concerts and Cultural Events Across Nou Barris

Nou Barris is hosting a full local programme for La Mercè 2026, with concerts, food events and puppetry taking place across the district from Friday 25 September. The festivities coincide with Barcelona’s city-wide La Mercè celebrations, which this year distribute more than 100 concerts across all ten districts to promote cultural decentralisation. The main concert series will be held at plaça Major de Nou Barris. The Orquestra i Cor del Gran Teatre del Liceu will perform there on Friday. On Saturday, the Banda Simfònica de Roquetes and Banda de Mollet will play at midday, followed in the afternoon by the Banda Municipal de Barcelona. The OBC performs on Friday evening, while Orquesta de VOZES and pianist Marco Mezquida will close the music programme on Sunday.

Tasta Nou Barris Celebrates Local Food and Wine

A new addition to the district’s festival lineup is Tasta Nou Barris, a free food and wine event showcasing five local establishments. It will take place on Friday 26 September from 12:00 to 00:00 in the courtyard of the district headquarters at Plaça Major de Nou Barris, 1. No prior registration is required. The event will feature Catalan wines, live music and informal dining, aiming to promote local gastronomy. According to La Ciutat, this initiative marks a deliberate effort by the district to create shared cultural and culinary experiences beyond traditional concert formats.

La Titellada Returns with Puppet Shows

The puppet festival La Titellada, organised by Associació Titellaire de Roquetes and Centre Ton i Guida, will run from Tuesday 29 September to Sunday 4 October in various neighbourhood spaces. It begins with a talk on Friday 25 and a creation workshop on Monday 29, leading into daily puppet performances. The event reinforces Nou Barris’ focus on community-based cultural programming.

Civic Centres Add Local Flavour

Local civic centres are also contributing to the week’s activities. El Generador 9B is organising a punk concert at Can Basté on Friday. The Centre Cívic Zona Nord will host a circus show on Saturday. Environmental activities will take place at Casa de l'Aigua de Trinitat Nova and Castell de Torre Baró. Residents have multiple options throughout the week: large-scale concerts, food experiences, puppetry, music, or family-friendly environmental events. The district’s strategy focuses on offering a diverse, accessible cultural calendar rooted in local participation.
