Modernised Facilities Replace Old Provença Site
This week, the Sagrada Família Civic Centre, Children's Centre and future Senior Citizens' Space begin operating from a fully renovated building at Mallorca Street, 425, replacing outdated facilities previously located on Provença Street. The move follows the completion of a comprehensive overhaul, as confirmed by the Barcelona City Council on Monday. The new configuration allows for expanded services and better integration within the neighbourhood.
Children's and Civic Services Start This Week
The Civic Centre and Children's Centre are resuming their activities in the new location immediately. The updated Children's Centre includes a Family Nurturing Space for children aged 0 to 3 years and a dedicated Casal Infantil for children aged 4 to 12. These facilities now benefit from larger, purpose-designed areas aimed at improving accessibility and engagement for families.
Senior Centre Opens in Early 2027
The new Sagrada Família Senior Citizens' Space will open in early 2027. It will occupy approximately 1,000 square metres at street level, providing room for social gatherings, training and activities. The City Council’s Social Rights department will continue to operate its communal meal service at the site, ensuring continuity of support for older residents.

Improved Access and Sustainability Features
The redesign improves connections between public facilities in the area. A new accessible passage links the building with the interior of the block, where the Sagrada Família Market is located, via a ramp. The facade also connects to the Sagrada Família Library through a shared courtyard. These changes create a unified hub of services across three buildings. The project, led by Addenda Architects and Flexo Arquitectura, included energy system upgrades using passive solutions expected to reduce heating and cooling demand by 25%.
