Descolonitzacio.cat has announced a demonstration at 5pm on Saturday, 3 October, at the junction of Passeig de Gràcia and Avinguda Diagonal in Barcelona.
For Barcelona residents who wish to take part, the organiser has identified the central Eixample junction as the meeting point. Its statement frames the gathering around its political arguments on Catalonia, Spain and decolonisation.
“The problem is political in nature, that is, related to the dispute for power.”
The statement, published by descolonitzacio.cat, criticises Catalanism, independence politics and nationalism as separate political approaches. It also makes a series of historical and political assertions about relations between Catalonia and the Spanish state.
The organiser links its argument to migrant regularisation
Descolonitzacio.cat’s text links its call to Spain’s extraordinary migrant regularisation process. That characterisation is the organiser’s political position.
Figures reported by Ara show that the process received 1,174,978 applications across Spain. Catalonia recorded 257,000 applications, the highest total of any territory and about two in every 10 applications nationwide.
