Flood Alert Lifted Following Rainfall Decline
Civil Protection of the Generalitat has officially ended the alert phase of the INUNCAT emergency flood plan as of Tuesday 3rd November 2026, following improved weather conditions reported by the Catalan Meteorological Service. The alert was lifted after the service confirmed that rainfall had dropped below critical thresholds, with no further risk of exceeding 60 litres per square metre within three hours.
Impact Limited to Coastal Regions
The weather event primarily affected the southern and central coastal comarcas of Catalonia, including Tarragonès, Baix Penedès, Garraf and Baix Llobregat. Despite significant rainfall accumulations, no major incidents were reported. The Catalan Traffic Service confirmed temporary alternating traffic on the C-31 near Sitges due to flooding, but normal circulation has since been restored.
- Tarragona recorded the highest 24-hour accumulation at 84.2 l/m²
- Torredembarra saw 71.5 l/m² over 24 hours
- Cunit registered 62.7 l/m² in the same period
In a 30-minute peak, Tarragona saw 18.7 l/m², followed by 18.4 l/m² in Cunit and 14.4 l/m² at the Port of Barcelona.
Hydrological Warnings Remain Active
The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) continues to maintain hydrological alerts for Garraf and Baix Penedès due to the potential for sudden rises in river and stream flows. Despite the end of the INUNCAT alert, Civil Protection urges the public to remain cautious near rivers, streams, ravines, fords and other flood-prone areas.
Do not cross flooded areas on foot or by vehicle while hydrological warnings are in place.
Residents are reminded to call emergency services on 112 in case of danger.
