Drivers and delivery operators travelling through the Raval should allow extra time: Carrer del Carme has been closed where it meets La Rambla since 5 October for sewer improvement works, and the closure is scheduled to remain in place until December.

The Ajuntament de Barcelona directs traffic along Carrer dels Àngels, then Carrer d'Elisabets and Carrer del Bonsuccés, before vehicles rejoin La Rambla. The diversion affects a key route between the Raval and the lower end of the boulevard.

Rambla vehicle access and bus route

In its 9 October works update, the Ciutat Vella district said vehicles can again travel downhill on the Raval-side carriageway of La Rambla. That lane is restricted to local residents, services and access to car parks.

Carrer Tallers has also reopened to traffic, while Carrer de Xuclà and Carrer del Bonsuccés have returned to their original traffic directions. Temporary crossings over La Rambla's central promenade have been removed.

  • Loading and unloading bays on the downhill Raval-side lane operate from 08:00 to 12:00.
  • TMB bus route 59 towards Poblenou will continue to use Via Laietana until the Rambla remodelling is fully completed.
  • The council expects the wider Rambla remodelling project to finish in the first quarter of 2027.

Motorists can use the signed diversion for the Carme closure, while passengers using the 59 towards Poblenou should continue to board and travel via its current Via Laietana route.
