Barcelona’s Popular Party group has called on mayor Jaume Collboni to order the eviction of Can Vies, the occupied centre in the Sants district, and has denounced what it describes as its “impunity”.

The request was made by the city group led by Daniel Sirera. The party says the situation at Can Vies should be addressed by the council, rather than left as it is.

Can Vies has long been one of the city’s most contentious occupied spaces, and the latest PP demand adds to the political pressure around the site. For more Barcelona politics coverage, see our Community page.

The party’s criticism comes as debate continues over how the council should handle occupied buildings in the city. Readers following local sport and civic issues can also browse our Sport page for related Barcelona coverage.
