A major setback has struck the local tech sector after Commercial Court number 10 in Barcelona ordered the necessary bankruptcy proceedings of Spanish Business Option Trading, a company incorporated in 2006 that sells computer hardware and software.

The court ruling, issued on Tuesday 27th October 2026, suspends the management powers of the company and appoints the law firm Figueras Legal as administrator, with Gemma Atarés acting on its behalf.

Financial Opacity and Default

Spanish Business Option Trading ceased filing its annual accounts with the Commercial Registry just two years after incorporation, in 2008. Since then, its financial statements have remained inaccessible to the public, effectively rendering it a 'ghost company'.

Banking default and litigation records show seven executive claims filed in recent years by public bodies against the firm. Its headquarters are located at 57 Gran Vía de Carlos III in Barcelona.

Leadership and Operations

Carlo Rubini Carmona, who obtained Spanish nationality in 2018, has been listed as sole administrator since 2010, according to the Mercantile Registry.

The prolonged absence of accounting information turned it into something akin to a ghost company.
