New Resident Parking Zone Launches in November
The Trinitat Vella neighbourhood in Sant Andreu will introduce a new regulated parking area, known as AREA Zone 36, on 9 November 2026. The zone will provide 632 green parking spaces primarily for local residents, aiming to improve access, reduce congestion, and support sustainable mobility.
Boundaries and Access Rules
Zone 36 will be bounded by Paseo de Santa Coloma, Avenida Meridiana, and Nus de la Trinitat. Spaces will be marked with green paint and signage. Residents registered within the zone who have a vehicle registered at their address will have priority and can park under the Resident Rate, priced according to the vehicle’s environmental label. Non-residents may use green spaces for up to two hours during posted times, as indicated by street signs. Residents of Zone 36 will also retain access to overlapping spaces in Zone 20, increasing their total available spaces to 768.
Complementary Parking Provision
The rollout includes 231 motorcycle parking spaces and 29 designated for Urban Goods Distribution (DUM) operations, supporting delivery logistics while preserving space for residents.
Digital Permits Through SMOU App
Residents do not need to take action if already registered in the area with a Barcelona-registered vehicle. Starting 21 September, they will receive information by post about their new zone and how the system works. New applicants can apply via the Barcelona City Council's Virtual Office, by calling 010, or in person at a BSM Citizen Service Point by appointment. This includes primary drivers of company vehicles and those under leasing contracts lasting over three months. The SMOU app's 'Residents Barcelona' service allows users to generate digital parking vouchers valid from a chosen date through the end of the year. Enforcement officers can verify permits in real time, so no physical ticket or dashboard display is required. Users may still print a receipt if needed. The app also supports non-resident parking in blue and green zones across the city.
Implementation Timeline
Work begins on 22 September 2026 with the installation of pre-signage to notify drivers of upcoming restrictions and construction schedules. Between 30 September and 6 November, crews will paint spaces, erect vertical signs, and install parking meters street by street. On 26 October, official communications will be mailed to all affected residents. The full system will go live on 9 November 2026, marking the operational start of Zone 36’s 632 green resident spaces.
