The Palau de la Música Catalana plans to open a new entrance at 54 Via Laietana in Barcelona this autumn, occupying two ground-floor units totalling 354 square metres opposite the Urquinaona Metro entrance. For concertgoers and visitors arriving on Metro lines L1 and L4, the site would provide another access point close to the building.

The new facility, to be called the Nova Porta del Palau, is in the final stage of construction. Joaquim Uriach, president of the Orfeó Català-Palau de la Música Catalana Foundation, told ARA that its inauguration is expected in September or October.

Former bank and shop units to become the Nova Porta

The Palau has leased two premises on the corner of Via Laietana and Carrer de Ramon Mas. The units previously housed a bank branch and a clothing shop, according to ARA's reporting.

The address is opposite the L4 entrance at Urquinaona, where the Palau's current visitor guidance also identifies connections to L1, the red line, and L4, the yellow line. The report says the surrounding stretch of Via Laietana and Carrer de Jonqueres is now traffic-free following redevelopment works.
