Arrest Made After String of Business Robberies

A man has been arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra in connection with at least four burglaries at local businesses around Mercat Sagarra in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. The arrest follows an increase in robberies reported this week in the town centre. The suspect was caught red-handed leaving a bar he had forced open, having stolen its cash register. Police link this incident to three other break-ins at nearby establishments.

Targeted Nail Salon and Other Businesses

One confirmed robbery occurred at Luxy Nails, a salon on Carrer Sant Ramon at the junction with Carrer Sant Silvestre, where thieves made off with the premises’ cash register. The exact amount of money taken has not been disclosed. According to Metrópoli Abierta, two habitual offenders active in Santa Coloma and Badalona were responsible for up to three assaults on shops in one night. Both suspects are known to local police and believed to live close to the city centre.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested one individual and believe he is responsible for four burglaries in recent weeks.

Police Response and Public Advice

The joint presence of the Mossos d'Esquadra and Santa Coloma’s Local Police has been reinforced in commercial zones to prevent further crimes and improve public safety perception. Mixed patrols consisting of officers from both forces have been deployed, particularly in the Centre and El Fondo districts. Residents and shoppers are advised to remain vigilant: use secure bags with zips, carry them across the front of the body, avoid displaying cash, and keep wallets in secure inner pockets. Anyone who witnesses or experiences a crime is urged to report it immediately to the police.
