KURIOS Debuts Under the Big Top in L'Hospitalet

Cirque du Soleil opens its latest touring production, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities, this Thursday, 3 September, in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The performance marks the first time the show has come to Barcelona during its 2026 Spanish tour. The spectacle will be held under a custom-built Big Top at the Districte Cultural de L’Hospitalet, located at Travessia Industrial 50. With a capacity of approximately 2,500 spectators, the tent stands 19 metres high and spans 52 metres in diameter, supported by four 25-metre masts and over 1,200 ground stakes.

50 Artists from 34 Countries Perform in Steampunk-Inspired Show

Featuring 50 performers from 34 nations, KURIOS presents a fantastical mechanical universe centred on a scientist’s workshop and an invisible world of imagination. According to the company, the creative concept invites audiences to rediscover wonder by closing their eyes and opening their minds. The stage is anchored by four early-20th-century antennas adorned with more than 450 props and decorative elements, a record for any Cirque du Soleil production. The show was originally created by Michel Laprise and premiered in Montreal in 2014.

We hope the Barcelona audience connects deeply with KURIOS because it’s a city very rich in culture and sophistication.

Michael Smith, the show’s director, expressed confidence that the Catalan capital’s cultural sensibility will resonate with the performance’s blend of poetry, humour, and acrobatic innovation.

  • The show runs daily until 18 October in L'Hospitalet
  • After Barcelona, the tour moves to Madrid’s Puerta del Ángel venue from 30 October
  • KURIOS has drawn over six million attendees globally since 2014
  • More than 3,500 performances have been staged across 45 cities
