Free Naps for Lunchtime Diners

A Barcelona restaurant claims to be the first in Spain to offer customers free access to nap pods after lunch. At Nappuccino Corner, guests who eat on-site can use one of two sleep cabins for up to an hour without charge. The pods are equipped with lighting, electrical outlets for charging phones or connecting devices, and a quiet environment designed for rest. Staff will gently wake customers if they fail to set an alarm, ensuring they do not overstay.

Reviving the Midday Break

Despite Spain’s cultural association with the siesta, a 2016 survey found that 60 per cent of Spaniards no longer take midday naps. Nappuccino Corner aims to reintroduce the practice by combining lunch with relaxation. According to the restaurant’s website, the initiative is part of a broader philosophy: “We believe that having a break should be a pleasure and the moment of joy and appreciation of a relaxing ambience.” Customers must have lunch at the venue to qualify for pod access, but no additional fee is required. The concept forms part of the Nappuccino Corner Family brand, with plans potentially to expand the service to other locations.
