How Barna.News Is Written

Barna.News is published by Pub.cat, an independent Barcelona media company. This page explains, in plain language, how the site works and who answers for it.

Articles are written by an automated system

Most news articles on this site are generated by software using large language models. Articles are not individually approved by a person before publication; a human reviews and improves published articles on an ongoing basis. We tell you this plainly because you have a right to know, and because from 2 August 2026 European law (the EU AI Act, Article 50) requires publishers of AI-generated news text to disclose it. We would publish this page even if it did not.

What the system actually does

For every article, the system collects reports from established sources and stores a copy of every source it used, so each article can be traced back to the evidence behind it. It classifies each story by the harm an error could cause and applies stricter handling to sensitive stories. It runs automated checks on each draft and holds stories that fail them; if a check cannot run, the story does not publish. It selects or generates an image, and images created by AI are labelled as such. These checks are automated. They are good and improving, but they are not a human editor, and we do not pretend otherwise.

Objective, without political bias

All of our news is designed to be 100 percent objective and without political bias. The system is instructed to report, in neutral language, what its sources support, and nothing else. If you believe an article falls short of that standard, tell us and we will assess it against the sources.

Who is responsible

Editorial responsibility for everything published here rests with Pub.cat, the publisher. If we got something wrong, we want to know, and we fix errors quickly and visibly. Report an error by email to [email protected] with the article link and what you believe is wrong. Corrections are made on the article itself with a note of what changed.

What we do not do

We do not invent quotes, events or people. The system is built to write only what its stored sources support, and stories whose claims cannot be supported are held rather than published. We do not use AI to imitate any real person's voice or image.

Guides and event listings on this site are built from official open data and checked against their sources. Hand-written feature articles carry their author's byline.
