An Airbus A320 operated by Vueling landed safely at Barcelona-El Prat Airport on Sunday 1st November 2026 after declaring a technical issue during its approach from Tenerife Norte.

According to air traffic controllers' communications published on X, the aircraft was granted a direct approach to runway 06L, the airport’s longest, to facilitate a controlled landing. At the time, El Prat was operating under a nighttime configuration of crossed runways, a procedure implemented to reduce noise pollution over residential areas, as outlined in ENAIRE's AIP SUP\_2026\_182 and the environmental impact report published in BOE-A-2023-5248.

> The flight from Tenerife arriving in Barcelona reports a technical problem, so we authorized it for a direct approach to runway 06L, the longest one. However, we are in a nighttime configuration of crossed runways due to noise issues. This means we have to reorganize the sequence, holding arrivals, but also being able to make more departures.

## Air traffic reorganised to prioritise landing

To accommodate the aircraft, air traffic control temporarily altered sequencing, holding some incoming flights while allowing additional departures. This adjustment ensured sufficient separation between aircraft, enabling the Vueling flight to land under optimal conditions.

Once the aircraft cleared the runway, normal operations resumed, with controllers reinstating the standard nighttime pattern that intersperses arrivals and departures by increasing spacing between landing aircraft.

## No injuries reported, cause under review

The plane landed without incident, and there were no reports of injuries or damage. The specific nature of the technical problem has not been disclosed by Vueling or aviation authorities.

This incident follows another technical event involving a Vueling A320 on 27th October 2026, when flight VY-3030 from Barcelona to Tenerife experienced a nose gear steering issue during approach, according to AeroInside. That aircraft also landed safely.
