Residents and visitors can expect activities in streets and squares across the town, while the most traditional dates are the eve of the feast day, 4 August, and 5 August itself. The Ajuntament de Vilanova i la Geltrú, the town council, says the programme and poster are normally presented at the beginning of July. --- ## Fire parades, dance and human towers According to the \[Ajuntament’s Festa Major page\](https://www.vilanova.cat/festa\_major), the programme includes traditional popular dances, family street activities, processions, casteller performances and concerts. Castellers are groups that build human towers, a longstanding Catalan cultural tradition. The council also lists the *convit a la festa*, or invitation to the festival, and the 12 *morterets*, ceremonial mortar blasts, among the regular events. The official festival website says applications to join the Pabordia for 2027 are open from 12 to 29 June.
