Victòria Alsina, a Junts councillor on Barcelona City Council and former Minister for Foreign Action and Open Government, is scheduled to present a new Catalanist foundation, Paral·lel 41, at 7pm on 17 September at La Pedrera's auditorium.

For Barcelona residents interested in Catalan political debate, the launch will introduce an organisation that says it wants to involve new generations in a shared national project and develop an agenda for Catalonia. The announcement does not set out specific municipal policies or programmes.

## Foundation sets out a political and civic aim

According to the invitation for the event, Paral·lel 41 takes its name from the geographical parallel that crosses Catalonia and connects it with the world.

> “We are born from civil society to promote a new stage of thought and action for Catalonia. We connect people, ideas and commitment. We build new consensuses to promote a future Catalan agenda capable of facing the great challenges of our time.”

The foundation says its purpose is to renew political Catalanism and bring younger generations into that project.

## Alsina’s record in the Generalitat

Alsina held the post of Minister for Foreign Action and Open Government in the Generalitat, Catalonia’s devolved government. A Generalitat programme for the Four Motors for Europe presidency handover listed her in that ministerial role on 3 December 2021.

In April 2022, the Generalitat said Alsina announced a €290,000 Catalan contribution to the COVAX vaccine-distribution mechanism, which works on equitable global access to Covid-19 vaccines.

The presentation is due to take place at the auditorium of La Pedrera, the Modernista building on Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona, at 7pm on 17 September.
