Speaking at a political event in Sant Feliu de Llobregat on Sunday 8th November 2026, Urtasun described the current state of the rail network as a 'disgrace'. He pledged that if a progressive government is re-elected following the 29th November general elections, his party will immediately demand that Rodalies be placed at the forefront of national railway investment plans. ## Criticism Over AVE Funding Urtasun highlighted the disparity in funding, pointing to a commitment of €1.33 billion for the AVE high-speed rail project under former Transport Minister Óscar Puente, aimed at increasing speeds to 350 km/h. In contrast, he noted that the Manresa–Barcelona line still takes over 90 minutes, the same duration as in the 19th century. > The Manresa-Barcelona train currently takes exactly the same time as in the 19th century, more than an hour and a half. And this is an absolutely intolerable disgrace, he said. According to a statement from the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, €1 billion is being invested nationwide under the 2025–2030 Integral Workshop and Maintenance Plan for Renfe, including €215 million allocated to new maintenance facilities in Mataró, Granollers, Blanes, Sant Vicenç de Calders, Sant Celoni and Sant Feliu de Buixalleu, currently under evaluation. --- ## Three-Day Rail Disruption Imminent Rodalies services face significant disruption from Tuesday 10th to Thursday 12th November 2026 due to industrial action. Train drivers' union SEMAF is leading a strike, with a full stoppage on Tuesday 10th and partial walkouts on Thursday 12th between 06:20–09:20, 14:20–17:20 and 21:20–23:20\. The Department of Business and Labour of the Generalitat issued a resolution on 5th November 2026 establishing minimum services. For Rodalies, this means 66% of normal service during peak hours (06:00–09:30 and 17:00–20:30) and 33% for the remainder of the day on both strike dates. On Wednesday 11th November, coinciding with a general strike, no Rodalies trains will operate outside peak periods, with only 25% service during those windows.
