The band has already released the lead single, *The Greatest Show On Earth*, co-written with longtime collaborator Brian Eno, which explores the emotional resilience of a couple facing uncertainty. A music video for the single, directed by Dutch filmmaker Anton Corbijn, known for shaping U2’s visual identity since the 1980s, was filmed in the California desert and presents a satirical portrayal of the band as leaders of a religious cult. ### Return to Outdoor Stages This tour marks U2’s first return to stadium performances since concluding *The Joshua Tree Tour* in December 2019\. In the interim, the group completed a 40-show residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas, which served as a technological testing ground for the large-scale production elements now being adapted for global stadiums. The European leg of the tour will launch on Monday 26th April 2027 in Stockholm, with Wolf Alice as supporting act, and will include stops in Paris, Lisbon, Amsterdam, London, Berlin, and Milan before concluding in Milan on 6th July. After Barcelona, U2 will perform in Seville at Estadio La Cartuja on Saturday 22nd May 2027. > “The Greatest Show on Earth? That’s quite a statement of intent. It’s a challenge, both for ourselves and for anyone, to try and make it the best night of everyone’s lives who is there,” the band said collectively, describing their ambition for the tour. The announcement follows U2’s 50th anniversary celebrations on 25th September 2026, when the group performed surprise shows in Dublin, including at their former school, Mount Temple Comprehensive, where the four founding members first met in 1976. --- *Sources:* [*El Español*](https://www.elespanol.com/el-cultural/escenarios/musica/20261105/u2-vuelve-espana-conciertos-barcelona-sevilla-fechas-precios-entradas/1003744447387%5F0.html?ref=barna.news)*,* [*El Nacional*](https://www.elnacional.cat/ca/cultura/u2-actuara-dues-nits-maig-2027-estadi-olimpic-barcelona%5F1721093%5F102.html?ref=barna.news)*.* --- ### Related on Barna.News - [DAU Barcelona Festival Returns with Free Play](https://barna.news/dau-barcelona-festival-returns-with/) - [Festival de la Infància 2026: Dates and Activities](https://barna.news/festival-de-la-infancia-2026-dates-and/) - [Download App for Firefighters' Run 2026](https://barna.news/download-app-for-firefighters-run-2026/) - [Hotel Tapa Tour: 12 Luxury Hotels Join Festival](https://barna.news/hotel-tapa-tour-12-luxury-hotels-join/)
