Both suspects have prior police records for property crimes. On 21 August, two partially hooded men attacked a pharmacy on Pasteur Street. One suspect, armed with a bladed weapon, threatened staff to steal cash from the register. Despite resistance, the assailants fled with part of the takings. One employee sustained minor injuries during the incident. --- ## Second robbery involved suspected firearm The investigation linked the suspects to a second robbery on 15 September at a bakery in the Carmel neighbourhood. Two men, one of whom brandished a firearm, intimidated employees and stole cash and a money box. No injuries were reported. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the firearm was real. On 17 September, during a routine police check for weapons and narcotics at Carmel metro station, officers from Citizen Security identified and arrested one of the suspects based on a match with witness descriptions. > The investigation led to the identification of the alleged perpetrators. Further investigative work placed the second suspect at a residence in the district. Officers found clothing and footwear matching those seen in surveillance footage. Judicial authorisation was obtained, and on 22 September, the second man was arrested following a search of the premises. ## Investigation remains ongoing The Mossos d'Esquadra confirmed the investigation remains open to clarify the full circumstances of both robberies and determine each suspect’s specific role. Further arrests or charges are not ruled out. From January to August 2026, robberies in Barcelona decreased by 1.9% compared to the same period in 2025, and by 16.4% compared to 2019, according to official figures published by the Generalitat. --- *Primary sources:* [*govern.cat*](https://govern.cat/salapremsa/notes-premsa/878692/detinguts-dos-homes-relacionats-dos-robatoris-violents-establiments-comercials-del-districte-dhorta-guinardo-barcelona?ref=barna.news)*,* [*Mossos d'Esquadra*](https://mossos.gencat.cat/ca/comunicacio/noticies/nota-premsa/?id=895432&ref=barna.news)*,* [*Barcelona City Council*](https://www.barcelona.cat/infobarcelona/en/crime-drops-by-11-2-in-barcelona-with-police-operations-and-proximity-bolstered%5F40071.html?ref=barna.news)*,* [*dsp.interior.gencat.cat*](https://dsp.interior.gencat.cat/handle/20.500.14007/2797?ref=barna.news)*.
