## Pay Gaps Persist Despite 2023 Agreement

Three years after the Catalan Health Institute (ICS) approved the III ICS Agreement to regulate on-call pay for transplant teams, staff at Can Ruti, Vall d'Hebron and Bellvitge hospitals have still not received the agreed compensation, the CSIF union has warned. The union states that the 2023 agreement, published by the Department of Health, included provisions for retroactive payment of availability duties, yet implementation has stalled. According to CSIF, transplant professionals must remain reachable at all times to respond to organ donations and transplants, yet are excluded from the same pay and benefits afforded to other ICS staff performing on-call roles.

> It is unacceptable to demand permanent availability to respond to a transplant and simultaneously deny the corresponding compensation. The ICS has failed to resolve this situation for three years.

## Legal Action and Resignation Demand

CSIF has announced that transplant teams have sought legal advice on possible next steps, including a suspension of localized on-call services within legal boundaries. The union represents not only doctors but also nurses, Technical Assistants in Healthcare (TCAI), orderlies, senior technicians and other professionals involved in transplant operations. The union is demanding full enforcement of the III ICS Agreement, retroactive payments, inclusion in vacation pay calculations based on duty averages, and equal conditions across all three hospitals. It has also called for the resignation of the ICS Director of Human Resources over the handling of the dispute.

## Next Steps and Equal Treatment Sought

CSIF warns it will pursue all legal and union avenues if no resolution is reached. The union stresses that these professionals ensure a vital public health service and deserve equitable treatment under the terms already approved by the ICS.
