## Tram Service Adjusted as Gran Via Upgrades Continue

From Thursday 1 October, the disruption to Trambesòs tram lines T5 and T6 has been reduced to the stretch between Glòries and Can Jaumandreu, according to the Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM), which oversees the network on behalf of the Generalitat de Catalunya. This change marks the final phase of urbanisation and track-doubling works on Gran Via between Badajoz and Bilbao streets, which began in October 2025 and entered a critical stage in summer 2026\. The full closure of T5 and T6 has now been scaled back from the previous section between Glòries and Sant Martí de Provençals. The service reduction will remain in place until spring 2027, when the project is scheduled to finish and normal operations will fully resume.

## Alternative Transport Routes Advised

For journeys between Glòries and Can Jaumandreu, passengers are advised to use bus line H12, which remains diverted due to the works. At night, the N2 night bus serves as the alternative. Travellers can also use metro line L4 to Besòs station to connect with tram T4 towards Maresme | Fòrum, Selva de Mar, and Glòries, or continue to Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica to access lines T5 and T6\. Earlier this week, tests were completed on power supply, alignment, signalling, and communications along the upgraded section, confirming readiness for the adjusted service pattern. The project includes replacing the single tram track on Gran Via with a double-track platform shared with buses, increasing capacity and improving reliability. The tram route is also being realigned along Ciutat de Granada street and adjusted on the seaside side of Diagonal avenue.

## City Plans Major Access Route Reforms

Meanwhile, Barcelona City Council has launched the final three tenders to study the transformation of the city’s four main entry corridors: Diagonal, Gran Via, Meridiana, and Ronda Litoral. The first tender, for Meridiana, is already underway. The four contracts will commission engineering, architecture, and mobility teams to analyse traffic flow and propose ways to redistribute space, with a clear directive to reduce reliance on private vehicles and prioritise public transport. These studies aim to tackle chronic congestion, such as the recurring traffic jams on Ronda Litoral and B-20 near Nus de la Trinitat, which continue to affect commuters despite improvements in public transport infrastructure.

> The goal is to redesign access routes to make them safer, more sustainable, and less car-dependent, according to the council’s mobility plans.

## Rodalies and Road Conditions

Elsewhere, Rodalies line R7 has resumed normal service following an earlier disruption caused by cable theft. Renfe is providing a delay certificate for affected passengers, available for download [via El Periódico’s report](https://www.elperiodico.com/es/barcelona/20261001/trafico-barcelona-hoy-transporte-directo-133938712?ref=barna.news). On the roads, traffic is currently fluid across Catalonia, a contrast to the previous day’s rain-related disruptions. However, some congestion remains: the B-10 reports 5.5 km of delays southbound towards Sant Adrià de Besòs, and the BV-1415 has alternating traffic due to landslides after heavy rainfall.
