## Special Access to Hidden Metro Sites

Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) is opening eight normally off-limits transport sites, including the long-closed Correus and Gaudí 'ghost stations', to the public from September to November. The initiative marks TMB's 100th anniversary and coincides with European Mobility Week 2026\. The first free tours begin this weekend, 13 and 14 September, with bookings launched on 9 September at 10:00 AM via [obrimelmetro.cat](https://obrimelmetro.cat/?ref=barna.news). A total of 5,033 free tickets are available across all events.

## Correus and Gaudí Stations Open for First Time

The former L4 station at Correus, located beneath Via Laietana, will be accessible only at night when metro services are suspended, requiring visits to be scheduled after hours. The site was decommissioned during L4 expansion works. Gaudí station, on the L5 blue line between Sagrada Família and Sant Pau | Dos de Maig, will be open during daytime hours without disrupting regular service.

## Behind-the-Scenes Tours Across the Network

In addition to the ghost stations, visitors can book tours of:

- The Metro Control Centre
- The metro driving simulator room
- Technical workshops at ZAL del Port and Santa Eulàlia warehouses
- The Mercat Nou electrical sub-station
- The historic spiral staircase at Urquinaona station
- The Bicing Operations Center
- The Cuca de Llum funicular at Tibidabo
- The Municipal Mobility Services Center

Tours of the Correus and Gaudí stations are scheduled for October and November, while other site visits begin this weekend.

> These visits, aside from the metro centenary, are also part of the European Mobility Week.

## X1 Bus Line Extension Launched

TMB has also launched an extension of the X1 bus line, improving connectivity between the Zona Franca and the city centre. The change supports increased mobility during the centenary events and beyond.
