# TMB Bus Strike Called Off After Deal Reached

Barcelona residents can expect normal bus services today after the TMB strike scheduled for Wednesday 14 October and five additional October days was called off. The decision follows a preliminary agreement between union representatives and TMB management on key points of the collective bargaining agreement.

Under the draft agreement, bus workers will gain 10 additional rest days per year by 2027, with the working week gradually approaching 35 hours. According to the document published by transparencia.tmb.cat, annual working hours will be reduced incrementally: by 8 hours in 2024, 2025, and 2026, and by 16 hours in 2027, bringing the total annual hours down from 1,658 to 1,618.

A key provision secured by the unions is an improved system for weekend rest days. Workers who cover shifts on weekends under Article 20 of the current agreement will now have greater certainty in scheduling compensatory time off, with rest days to be taken the following week during weekdays, preferably Tuesday to Thursday.

The new collective agreement will be valid for four years, replacing the previous 2022–2025 arrangement. A joint commission will monitor conditions such as absenteeism and operational efficiency, with the possibility of gaining up to three additional rest days if performance targets are met.
