The €6.3 million scheme will convert the disused 1906 industrial building into a venue for cultural exhibitions and promotion, as well as civic and local association activities. For Teixonera residents, the project is intended to provide new indoor space for community groups and cultural events while retaining the site’s industrial heritage. ## Barcelona’s last preserved brick factory A *bòbila* is a brickworks, where clay bricks were historically made and fired. The Bòbila de la Teixonera is Barcelona’s last preserved brick factory, according to the City Council. The conversion will restore heritage elements of the building and preserve the memory of its former industrial use. The rectangular building has two floors and covers about 780 square metres. --- ## Works cover the building and its surroundings The scheme covers 1,623 square metres of built area. The City Council said the design will use the existing structure’s thermal mass, meaning its ability to retain heat, alongside high-efficiency energy systems and passive bioclimatic measures designed to reduce energy demand. - **€6.3 million:** the stated investment in the rehabilitation project. - **First quarter of 2027:** the expected completion period. - **280 square metres:** the area covered by a separate planned project to improve the outdoor space and access points.
