## Second Edition Confirmed for 19 November

The Korea Spotlight festival will return to Barcelona on Thursday 19th November 2026, marking its second consecutive year in the Catalan capital. The event is organised by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) under the auspices of South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, which has reconfirmed Barcelona as the host city due to the strong influence of the 'hallyu', the Korean wave, and the city’s proven capacity to host large-scale cultural events.

## Consolidated Music Ecosystem Cited

Organisers highlighted Barcelona’s well-established music infrastructure as a key factor in the decision. "Barcelona has a very consolidated musical ecosystem, both in terms of venues and programming, as well as industry, festivals, promoters, and sector professionals," sources from the organisation told Metrópoli. The festival aims to strengthen ties between South Korea’s cultural industry and Spain’s local music scene, positioning Barcelona as the "main gateway for Korean avant-garde to Europe."

## 2026 Lineup Announced

The concert will take place at the Razzmatazz venue and feature four headlining acts across diverse genres:

- SOYOU, former member of the girl group SISTAR
- BIBI, known for her hit 'BIBI Vengeance'
- Girl group Billlie, returning from last year’s edition
- R&B artist oceanfromtheblue

Tickets went on sale via the Vivaticket platform on 22nd October 2026 and are close to selling out, according to festival sources.

## Professional Exchange and Public Concert

Beyond the public concert, the Korea Spotlight includes professional exchange activities aimed at fostering collaboration between Korean creators and local industry figures. Organisers noted that last year’s event received a "very good reception" and demonstrated a "clear connection" with audiences interested in Korean music and culture. Repeating the event in Barcelona allows for continuity in building this cross-cultural network.

## Korean Wave Grows in Barcelona

The festival arrives amid growing Korean cultural presence in the city. Earlier in 2026, Barcelona hosted Musik Bank, one of Europe’s most prominent K-Pop festivals, featuring acts such as ATEEZ, ENHYPEN, and NMIXX. The city also welcomed TWICE, one of K-Pop’s most successful girl groups, on their world tour. The Arc de Triomf area has emerged as a cultural hub for Korean culture, with specialised shops, record stores, dance studios, and themed cafes. This is complemented by the rising popularity of K-dramas on streaming platforms, Korean cosmetics, and Korean barbecue restaurants across the city.

## Future Cities Still Possible

While some K-pop fans from other Spanish regions expressed disappointment that the event remains in Barcelona, organisers stressed that the choice is not to the detriment of other locations. They left the door open to future editions in other Spanish cities, stating the current focus is on consolidating the project in a city with an established audience and infrastructure.
