No injuries or arrests have been reported, but police recovered shell casings from the scene near the Emergency Department entrance. According to initial reports, a man wearing a hood opened fire on an Audi carrying several occupants, before fleeing in a black Renault Megane. The shooting occurred on Carrer Mossèn Josep Pons i Rabadà, a street adjacent to the hospital. Security staff at the centre alerted police after hearing the gunfire, though both the alleged shooter and those targeted had left by the time officers arrived. Witnesses reported hearing between six and seven shots. The Mossos have not confirmed whether anyone was injured, nor have they released details about a possible motive. However, ElCaso.com reported that investigators suspect the incident may stem from an ongoing conflict between two Roma clans, with the shooting possibly intended to assert territorial control or settle a prior dispute. --- ## One week after Tarragona hospital murder The incident comes exactly one week after a fatal shooting at the Hospital Joan XXIII in Tarragona, where a man was shot dead in his room in the early hours of Thursday 29 October. The victim, a Turkish national previously wounded in a shooting in Salou, was recovering when an armed man entered the ward and shot him in front of his wife, who was unharmed but treated for shock. At the time of that attack, the two security guards on duty were responding to a separate incident elsewhere in the hospital, according to Health Minister Olga Pané, who confirmed a review of security protocols is underway. She stressed that family access would not be restricted, despite the breach, and that the existing number of security personnel remains sufficient. > “The shooting at Joan XXIII was a completely unusual and extraordinary event,” Pané said, as reported by Modernet Digital. The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating both incidents, which have raised concerns about safety in public healthcare facilities across Catalonia.
