Barcelona police have opened an investigation into a second suspected case of illegal detention within 48 hours, following the abduction of a man in Barcelona early on Monday morning, 21 September 2026\. The incident occurred on Carrer de Huelva, where several hooded individuals allegedly forced the victim into a vehicle, according to information obtained by ARA.

The man was later discovered near a gas station in Salt, a municipality in the Gironès region, showing clear signs of physical assault. Emergency medical services (SEM) were called to the scene and transported him to a healthcare facility for treatment. Authorities have not yet established a motive for the incident, and no connection has been confirmed between this case and another illegal detention that took place on Saturday evening.

## AP-7 Abduction Also Under Investigation

In the earlier case, which occurred around 19:30 on Saturday on the AP-7 motorway near Montornès del Vallès, approximately 30km northeast of Barcelona, five individuals disguised as police officers forcibly removed a man from his vehicle. The victim, who had been travelling with their partner, was later found in Sant Llorenç de Savall in the Vallès Occidental region, suffering from multiple injuries.

> The Mossos are treating both incidents as illegal detentions rather than kidnappings, as there is no evidence of financial ransom demands.

Investigators found ammunition, zip ties, and handcuffs inside the victim’s car, though it remains unclear whether these items belonged to the victim or the perpetrators. The victim has a criminal record, a factor that reinforces police belief the incident is linked to organised crime, particularly disputes between drug trafficking groups.

Efforts to secure cooperation from the victim and their circle have so far been limited, according to Mossos d'Esquadra sources. The regional police force continues to appeal for public information while conducting forensic and surveillance reviews related to both cases.
