## Peak output planned for Martorell plant

SEAT and Cupra will reach peak production at the Martorell plant near Barcelona in 2027, with 2,500 vehicles rolling off the assembly lines each day, according to CEO Markus Haupt. The target reflects the company’s push to maintain high-volume output and secure jobs at the Catalan facility. This level of production is essential for cost competitiveness, Haupt stressed during remarks at the Paris Motor Show 2026\. The plant, which currently runs three flexible production lines, builds vehicles across combustion, plug-in hybrid, and electric platforms for multiple Volkswagen Group brands.

## Cupra Raval drives electrification strategy

The Cupra Raval, the brand’s latest urban hybrid model, is central to SEAT S.A.’s electrification plans. As of September 2026, 51,200 orders had been placed, with 14,800 units already delivered. The company aims to deliver over 100,000 Raval units by next year. Haupt confirmed that "the electrification strategy goes through the Cupra Raval", highlighting its debut at the Paris Motor Show as a milestone for the brand’s international presence.

- Cupra sales from January to September 2026: 250,600 units (+2%)
- SEAT sales over same period: 182,800 units (−6%)
- Top-selling model: SEAT Ibiza, with 78,600 units sold (+10%)

Cupra growth was strongest in Spain (+23%), the UK (+6%), Italy (+10%), and Mexico (+45%), according to Volkswagen Group data published on 12 October 2026.

## Fighting for second electric platform

While the company has not yet received confirmation, Haupt said SEAT is actively "fighting" to secure a second electric platform for Martorell, which would be critical for the plant’s long-term industrial future. He reiterated that employment at the plant, which directly supports around 13,000 workers and up to 100,000 indirect jobs, is secure under current plans. "If we will lose jobs, clearly not," he stated, citing the company’s industrial planning through the end of the decade.

> The future of Seat is assured. We are committed to maintaining employment and activity at Martorell.

Total SEAT and Cupra deliveries in the first nine months of 2026 reached 433,400 vehicles, a 1.4% decline compared to the same period in 2025, according to Volkswagen Group figures.
