The e3 interurban bus line linking Barcelona, Cerdanyola del Vallès, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) now runs 14 additional daily services. On school days, the line offers 218 trips, with buses arriving every five to ten minutes during peak hours at stops in Cerdanyola. Of these, 200 services stop in the municipality, an increase of 60 daily stops, responding to rising passenger demand, particularly from those shifting from rail to bus. The reinforcement is funded with an annual allocation of €304,157 from the Generalitat and forms part of the second Interurban Bus Shock Plan. This wider mobility strategy includes upgrades to 13 interurban bus lines between September and October, backed by €7.8 million in initial funding from a total budget of €21.4 million. > We are increasing frequency on this line and ensuring a bus every five or ten minutes at Cerdanyola stops, said Susi López, General Director of Mobility at the Generalitat. --- ## Broader Transport Improvements Across Catalonia The e3 line, operated by Sarbus (Moventis group), carried over 2 million passengers in 2025\. Despite previous expansions in September 2025, demand continues to grow, especially in areas undergoing urban development such as Badia del Vallès, where 5,200 subsidised housing units (VPO) are being progressively liberalised. In Reus, a fifth school bus line has been introduced for the 2026–27 academic year to improve access for students. Meanwhile, the FGC has reinforced its school train service on lines such as the S1 (Plaça Espanya–Igualada) and S8 (Barcelona–Vallès), with additional morning and afternoon services for students. The improvements come amid ongoing efforts to address rail service disruptions. In response to persistent problems with train operations, the Generalitat has strengthened 13 interurban bus lines as alternatives, ensuring continuity for school and university travel. ### Fare Reductions in Effect Since January Since 15 January 2026, a 50% discount on selected public transport tickets has been in place under Royal Decree-Law 17/2025\. This includes the T-usual and T-jove passes, aimed at boosting public transport use. For example, the T-jove pass now costs €22.75 for standard users, while unemployed individuals can access a subsidised T-usual pass for €5.65 regardless of zones.
