## A New Local Response to Cancer Care

Six independent businesses in Santa Coloma de Gramenet have formed a support network called "¿Y ahora qué?" to help residents navigate life after a cancer diagnosis. The initiative, coordinated by the Gramenet Comerç association, brings together professionals in aesthetics, health, and emotional wellbeing to offer targeted, accessible services without requiring travel to Barcelona. The network includes Miriam from Belleza Holística, Erika from Erika Micropigmentación, Carol from Cala Estilista, Cristina from Lapislázuli, Marta from Centre Mèdic Sant Ramón, and Javier from Amics herbalist shop.

## Free Services Tailored to Patient Needs

Patients facing hair loss due to treatment can receive complete scalp shaving, wigs, or scarves at no cost through Cala Estilista, located on Carrer de Sant Carles. The salon also offers home visits for those unable to leave their homes, ensuring access regardless of mobility. Erika provides facial micropigmentation to restore eyebrows, eyelashes, and areolas, particularly beneficial for women post-mastectomy. Her service aims to help individuals feel recognisable in the mirror during recovery. Miriam specialises in oncological aesthetics, offering pre-radiotherapy skin treatments, hydration therapies, and adapted massages following medical consultation.

> We want to be a point of reference once you receive the diagnosis, in parallel to the treatment, where you can get information on all aspects surrounding the process without feeling lost.

Cristina, from Lapislázuli, supports emotional resilience through holistic therapy, hypnosis, and regression sessions. Her services extend to family members and address trauma related to illness.

### Medical and Nutritional Support On the Ground

Marta, representing Centre Mèdic Sant Ramón, and Javier from Amics, offer immediate nutritional guidance and psychological support that complements clinical care. Javier noted that while some services take more time than standard appointments, he charges for only one of two sessions to keep support accessible.

> We respond faster than a hospital, you can't afford to wait two or three days when someone is low on energy.

Despite interest, not all businesses have joined: some cited tight schedules or lack of interest. However, the group continues expanding its reach.

## Public Outreach at 22 October Cancer Race

The network will host an information stand at the upcoming 'Cursa per la Vida', a community walk organised by the Santa Coloma City Council taking place on Sunday 22 October. The event marks a revival of annual anti-cancer activities paused during pandemic years. Organisers hope the visibility will attract more local businesses, institutions, and volunteers to join the growing support ecosystem. Those interested can contact participating entities directly or visit the stand for details.
