## Service Disruptions Across Llobregat-Anoia Lines

A rockfall in the Gornal tunnel in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat has severely disrupted service on Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) lines R5, R6, S8, and S3\. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday 20th October 2026 in the afternoon, involved a partial collapse of the tunnel ceiling on track 2, forcing trains to run on a single track through the affected section. As of Wednesday 21st October 2026, disruptions continue with no confirmed timeline for full restoration of service. Passengers travelling between Plaça Espanya and L'Hospitalet Av. Carrilet are advised to use metro line L1 as an alternative. For intermediate stations in the affected zone, FGC recommends using the S8 line, which remains operational with adjusted frequencies.

## Revised Train Frequencies

Due to the reduced capacity, FGC has reorganised train circulation with significant frequency reductions. According to the operator's service updates, line S3 (Can Ros) now runs one train per hour in each direction. Lines R5 (Manresa) and R6 (Igualada) also operate at two trains per hour, but both now start and terminate at L'Hospitalet Av. Carrilet instead of continuing to central Barcelona. In contrast, line S8 (Martorell Enllaç) maintains a more regular schedule, running every 15 minutes in each direction between Plaça Espanya and Martorell, as confirmed by FGC’s network information portal.

## Investigation Underway

Technicians from both FGC and Adif have inspected the site and are analysing the cause of the collapse. An Adif-operated rail line runs directly above the affected tunnel, a factor being considered in the ongoing structural assessment. The exact cause of the rockfall has not yet been determined, nor has FGC specified what repair work will be required or when normal service can resume.

> The company assures that it will inform users as soon as the usual service can be re-established.

Passengers are advised to check real-time service status via the [FGC service updates page](https://www.fgc.cat/en/fgc-faq/how-can-i-check-the-status-of-fgc-service-and-where-can-i-see-real-time-incidents-2/?ref=barna.news) for the latest information on delays, cancellations, and alternative routes.
