The affected stretch runs between Barcelona’s Sant Andreu station and Granollers Centre, with no trains able to run for much of Thursday morning. According to Adif, the infrastructure manager, the downpour washed away ballast and other supporting materials beneath the tracks. This has compromised the stability of the rail bed in an area already weakened by a major collapse last July, when a crane was swallowed during construction works. ## One Track Reopened, Full Service Not Yet Restored By noon, Adif confirmed that one of the two affected tracks had been reopened. At 2:30 PM, they announced the second track was also being brought back into use. However, Renfe stated that passenger services had not yet resumed. Before carrying passengers again, empty test runs and full safety checks must be completed. These are standard procedures after any structural incident affecting the line. > Technicians are working to drain water and assess damage at the Sant Andreu Comtal workshop, which flooded overnight. --- ## Alternative Transport and Ongoing Delays Renfe has deployed a replacement bus service to maintain some level of mobility between affected stations. Passengers on the R2, R2Nord, and R11 routes are being diverted onto buses or advised to use the R4 line where possible. Even outside the immediate disruption zone, delays persist. The R4 line is operating at reduced speeds due to both rain-related issues and a recent copper cable theft between Castellbisbal and Molins de Rei. Average delays across the network reached around 30 minutes during the morning. Additionally, flooding hit the pits of the Sant Andreu Comtal maintenance workshop overnight.
