## Police Monitor New Online Calls for Action

The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's regional police, are closely monitoring new online calls for gatherings in Barcelona, including one scheduled for this Monday 26 October near Plaça d'Espanya. The alert comes after social media channels circulated messages linked to the 'Blocus' movement, following violent disturbances in central Barcelona on Saturday 24 October. Although a larger gathering is planned for Saturday 31 October, authorities are particularly focused on potential disruptions near Sants, just minutes from a major commercial area. The police have confirmed they are treating the Monday call seriously, despite concerns it may be false, as seen in unfounded alerts in Granollers and Girona over the weekend.

## Coordination with Local Businesses

In response, the Mossos have held meetings with merchants' associations in Sants to clarify coordination protocols and advise on self-protection measures. Shopkeepers were briefed on how to respond in case of incidents, including vandalism or looting, and how to communicate quickly with law enforcement. Police stress that their actions are based on real-time analysis, past patterns, and verified intelligence. They remain prepared for any scenario, whether the call leads to actual mobilisation or not.

## Minister Condemns Organised Delinquency

Catalan Interior Minister Núria Parlon stated that the violence on 24 October was not linked to any legitimate social or political protest. Instead, she described it as criminal behaviour, possibly orchestrated by networks aiming to destabilise public order. Parlon confirmed that the Mossos have substantial investigative leads and are working to dismantle the channels responsible for spreading the initial calls. She did not rule out further arrests.

> They cannot get away with it.

To date, 128 people have been arrested in connection with the weekend's violence, including 72 minors. A total of 23 businesses were looted or vandalised. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity through official channels.
