Residents raised the alarm around 11 PM, making several calls to the 112 emergency hotline to report detonations in the Florida blocks, a densely populated part of [Catalonia’s second-largest city](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L'Hospitalet%5Fde%5FLlobregat?ref=barna.news). According to initial reports by news outlet *El Caso*, by the time Mossos d’Esquadra patrols arrived, those involved had already fled.

## An Unseen Incident

The Investigation Unit from the L’Hospitalet police station has taken charge of the case, analysing the ballistic evidence recovered from the public road. Investigators prioritise determining if anyone was injured in the incident. No victims were found, and the Medical Emergencies System (SEM) was not activated; however, police do not rule out casualties.

Mossos sources confirmed officers are checking local hospitals and medical centres for patients admitted with injuries consistent with a firearm wound. Investigators suspect an injured person may deliberately avoid authorities to prevent questions about their involvement in the altercation. As of now, no arrests have been made.

## A Wider Pattern of Violence

The shooting’s motive remains unclear; police are exploring all possibilities. Often, rival criminal groups use shootings as warnings, targeting vehicles or building facades. However, investigators have not yet determined Tuesday’s intended target.

This event increases law enforcement’s concern about the growing presence of firearms on the streets of [Catalonia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalonia?ref=barna.news). Recently, the Florida neighbourhood and wider L’Hospitalet area have seen several major police operations targeting organised crime networks. These included raids on an international drug ring operating between Spain and Italy, and the dismantling of another L’Hospitalet-based narcotics network.

Police records reveal a troubling frequency of firearm incidents across the region. Just last weekend, [a man was seriously injured in a shooting in Badalona’s Sant Roc district](https://barna.news/man-injured-badalona-sant-roc-shooting/). This pattern of violence pressures public safety and police force capacity.
