Núria’s son is part of a large messaging group and took part in recent student protests, including one in Manresa on Thursday and another in Barcelona on Saturday. In Manresa, the protest ended with stone-throwing, attempted looting prevented by shopkeepers, and the forced entry of a Generalitat building, actions attributed to around 20 to 30 teenagers, most of them minors. "They went for what they went for, pure vandalism, to destroy and steal," Núria said. "I don’t know if I’d put my hand in the fire for my son, I just hope he doesn’t throw a stone." She admitted she does not monitor her son’s phone but talks to him regularly and knows his friends. Still, she has decided not to allow him to attend future demonstrations, not because she believes he would act violently, but to protect him from harm and exposure to others’ behaviour. --- ## Police Identify Links Between Disturbances Núria Parlon, Catalonia’s Minister of the Interior, presided over a Local Security Board meeting in Manresa on Monday, where she acknowledged that while the Manresa incident was a typical organized protest with some participants causing trouble, it was distinct from the larger-scale violence in Barcelona. However, she confirmed that some individuals involved in the Manresa unrest likely also participated in the Barcelona riots. According to police sources, around 60 of the 300 individuals identified by the Mossos d'Esquadra in Saturday’s Barcelona riots came from the Central Police Region, which includes Manresa. Parlon stressed that the youth at the forefront of these incidents often share a profile: they have few life prospects and do not respond to authority.
