According to official data cited during the event, known criminal incidents in L'Hospitalet fell by 16.24% between April and August 2026 compared to the same period in 2025\. The most significant drops were in thefts from vehicles, down 43.21%, and robberies with violence in public spaces, down 20.63%. Overall, recorded offences dropped from 22,759 to 21,096 year-on-year, reversing a 10.2% increase seen in 2025\. She also announced plans for a new Mossos d'Esquadra station in the Gran Via area. ## Opposition Demands Transparency and Inclusion Despite the positive figures, both ERC+EUiA and the Partido Popular (PP) have challenged the legitimacy and timing of the announcement. Jaume Graells, spokesperson for ERC+EUiA and leader of the opposition, criticised the presentation for bypassing the Local Security Board, a multi-party body meant to review such data. His group is calling for an urgent expanded session to assess victimisation rates and local perceptions of safety across neighbourhoods. --- ## PP Questions Data and Timing Ahead of Elections Sonia Esplugas, PP spokesperson at the city council, described the government’s security narrative as "surreal". She cited Interior Ministry data showing increases in certain serious crimes: sexual assaults with penetration up 4.4%, intentional homicides and attempted murders up 18.2%, and completed murders up 100% year-on-year. Esplugas also highlighted long-standing issues with access to police services, including difficulties citizens face when booking appointments or filing complaints at current Mossos facilities. She welcomed the planned new station but said it underscores existing deficiencies. She further noted that her group proposed renewing the collaboration agreement between the Mossos and Guàrdia Urbana in October 2025, a motion approved by the plenary. Yet no implementation has followed, raising questions about why coordination progress is only now being announced with municipal elections approaching. > These operations are part of the ordinary obligations of any government to guarantee security Both opposition parties stressed that they were neither informed of Parlón’s visit nor invited to participate in the data presentation.
