According to an update from the Generalitat’s veterinary services published on 8 October 2026, the infected animals were found as carcasses in Molins de Rei (five), El Papiol (two), Barcelona (one), and Sant Cugat del Vallès (one). All were located inside the fenced perimeter of the restricted zone. This brings the total number of confirmed ASF cases in wild boars to 409 since the outbreak began in November 2025, across 13 municipalities. Of the 13,909 samples analysed to date, 13,500 have tested negative. --- ## Expanded Control Measures and Personnel Deployment A total of 997 personnel were mobilised this week as part of the ongoing eradication operation. The intervention group includes 353 members from Rural Agents, GECA, GEK9, the Drone Unit, ADF, Mossos d’Esquadra, Tragsa, GEPIF, and a canine unit from a private Catalan company. The order group comprises 644 personnel from the Mossos d’Esquadra, local police, Civil Protection volunteers, and the Guardia Civil. To manage the wild boar population, authorities have installed 34 traps and 93 operational pig brigades. Additionally, 351 enclosures have been erected to prevent animal movement in and out of sensitive areas near Collserola. ### Hunting Operations Continue in Low-Risk Zone In the low-risk zone, 12 culling operations were carried out this week with the participation of 213 hunters and 201 dogs. Another 35 hunters conducted ambushes. These actions are coordinated by the Department of Agriculture in collaboration with hunting societies and local councils. --- ## Public Restrictions and Safety Advice The Generalitat continues to enforce access restrictions in the high-risk zone, which includes 19 municipalities: Badia del Vallès, Barberà del Vallès, Cerdanyola del Vallès, El Papiol, Molins de Rei, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Montcada i Reixac, Polinyà, Ripollet, Rubí, Sabadell, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Sant Quirze del Vallès, Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Terrassa, Sant Just Desvern, Esplugues de Llobregat, Castellbisbal, and Barcelona, including access points to Collserola Natural Park.
