## Event replaces BizBarcelona, aligns with job fair

Fira de Barcelona will host the first edition of the *Saló del Comerç* (Trade Fair) on 21 and 22 October at its Montjuïc venue, launching a new initiative to strengthen local commerce under the city’s designation as European Capital of Local Commerce 2026\. The event replaces the former BizBarcelona and will run concurrently with the *Saló de l’Ocupació* (Employment Fair), also taking place at Montjuïc. The trade fair will occupy around 1,500 square metres in Hall 8 of the Montjuïc exhibition centre, according to Fira de Barcelona’s official calendar \[S1\]. It is aimed at retailers seeking to grow or adapt their businesses, as well as entrepreneurs, professionals and unemployed individuals interested in starting commercial ventures.

## Practical support for retailers

The fair will feature several dedicated zones focused on knowledge sharing, advice and networking. Central to the layout is *La Plaça* (The Square), which will host short sessions on sales, digitalisation, consumer trends and competitiveness, featuring real-life case studies from local business owners. An advisory area will offer personalised support from specialists in marketing, financing, hiring and digital tools. A generational succession zone will provide services to help transfer businesses between owners, supporting continuity in family-run and long-established shops. In *El Taller* (The Workshop), small-group training sessions will cover sales strategies, team management and adapting to market changes.

> The new Trade Fair aims to provide answers to the challenges facing the commercial fabric, with practical knowledge, advisory spaces, and activities aimed at improving the competitiveness of establishments.

, Raquel Gil, Deputy Mayor for Economic Promotion and Employment, Barcelona City Council
