On Saturday 31st October, a large-scale security operation led by the Mossos d'Esquadra successfully prevented a planned wave of disturbances in central Barcelona linked to the online '[Blocus](https://barna.news/bicing-service-suspended-in-barcelona/)' phenomenon. Fearing targeted vandalism, workers were seen reinforcing the windows of Antoni Gaudí’s Casa Milà on Passeig de Gràcia with plywood just before 9 PM, one of several businesses taking preventive measures.

The police operation began at 3 PM and saturated key areas including Plaça de Catalunya, Passeig de Lluís Companys and Passeig de Gràcia. Over 1,000 individuals were identified, and more than 60 objects, including bladed weapons, balaclavas and pyrotechnic devices, were seized. According to the Mossos, the operation ran under alert level 4, the highest for public demonstrations, and involved hundreds of officers from the Mossos, Guardia Urbana, Brigada Mòbil (Brimo) and Àrees Regionals de Recursos Operatius (ARRO).

During the sweeps, two people were arrested on outstanding warrants unrelated to [Blocus](https://barna.news/new-blocus-rallies-planned-for-31/), a minor was arrested for disobeying officers, and a fourth person carrying a cutting object was placed under investigation. Separately, a 21-year-old from Cabrera d'Anoia was arrested for allegedly inciting and coordinating looting in Barcelona via a WhatsApp group promoted on TikTok using a QR code. He is suspected of being an administrator of a key coordination channel and was present during the previous weekend’s unrest.

Meanwhile, the alleged main instigator of the movement in Spain, a young man known online as 'Fuck AEAT', was remanded in custody in Valencia. The investigating judge in Torrente ordered him held without bail and banned from accessing any internet-connected devices.

Police also set up a temporary arrest reception centre on Carrer de Pau Claris to manage the potential influx of detainees. By the time ABC went to press, only the person found carrying a dangerous object had been brought there; he was later released and remains under investigation.

Despite the high-profile deployment, no major incidents occurred. Firefighters extinguished container fires but confirmed these were unrelated to the [Blocus](https://barna.news/main-blocus-agitator-arrested-in-picanya/) call. The same pattern was seen in Madrid, Valencia and other Spanish cities, where businesses boarded up windows but no significant disruptions took place.

Investigators stress that Blocus is not a political movement but a social media-driven phenomenon originating in France, initially focused on school reforms but now repurposed to incite chaos. Its spread across Europe, amplified by foreign actors, aims to destabilise urban centres. According to police sources, those responding are overwhelmingly young: of the 133 people arrested in Barcelona on Saturday 24th October, 89 were minors, with some as young as 12, and the average age was 19.

Minors identified with dangerous items during the 31st October operation were taken to a secure location and their parents notified.

While the immediate threat was contained, authorities warn that similar calls may resurface online.
