A 75-year-old woman who went missing in Barcelona last week has been found dead, bringing a tragic end to an extensive search effort. The [Mossos d’Esquadra](https://mossos.gencat.cat/?ref=barna.news), the Catalan police force, confirmed on Thursday that Gladys Faustina had died.

Ms Faustina was last seen on Saturday, 14 February, in the [Nou Barris district](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Nou+Barris,+Barcelona?ref=barna.news) of Barcelona. Following her disappearance, the Mossos launched a search operation and issued a public appeal for information. They circulated her photograph and description, urging residents to report any sightings and noting she might be disorientated, increasing the search’s urgency.

## A History of Disorientation

This wasn’t Ms Faustina’s first disappearance. On that occasion, the search had a positive outcome; she was found alive and well the following day.

The search for Ms Faustina involved a public campaign, with police appealing for citizen vigilance. After five days, the operation tragically concluded with the discovery of her body.
